The Festival Weeks of old music have been annually celebrated since 1976 in Innsbruck. Nicolaus Harnoncourt, John Eliot Gardiner, René Jacobs as well as Alan Curtis all conducted magnificent opera performances. All lovers and fans of art and culture can again expect a programme full of highlights in 2013.
The Tyrolean state theatre has been the main venue for the productions in the last decades, productions that reached from renaissance to baroque. The Spanish Hall at Ambras Castle, the Giant Hall at the Hofburg as well as the Jesuit church served as stages for the Innsbruck Festival Weeks.
A regular feature during the Innsbruck Festival Weeks is the international singing competitions, which support and feature newcomers. The public final concerts are considered to be a springboard for young talents and will again take place this year.
World and Life are Music. Under the musical direction of Alessandro De Marchi the Innsbruck Festival Weeks will take place from 7th – 25th August. Tickets for the events are available from late November.
